One of my sons purchased this domain and named it for me as a Christmas present. One of the reasons he named it Mom by Example, is that he understood, that much of what he learned from his father and me, came from what was ‘caught’ and not necessarily ’taught.’
It has been interesting for me to witness the truth in that statement first hand.
Five of our 8 children are living outside of our home.
As I observe their lives, I am amazed at how many aspects are based on activities that we enjoyed as a family, but were rarely, IF EVER, talked about.
They take the time to volunteer with the elderly, their churches, and other groups who could use assistance.
They love to make use of the public library, and the oldest 4, all sons, continue to enjoy reading.
They sponsor less advantaged children around the world.
There are many other examples.
They understand that the world does not revolve around them, and I didn’t have to lecture them.
As moms, we have the privilege and honor of being examples to our children.
I have done SO MANY things incorrectly. I have let my temper ‘win’ more times than I haven’t. I have reacted WAY too quickly too often, and should have put duct tape over my mouth more times than I could count.
But, the love that I showed to my children and to others never failed. It can’t.
God knows our hearts, and in His grace and by His mercy, which is new every morning, He is changing each one of us, as we allow Him to!!
We CAN be examples to our children. We can leave a legacy and spur them on to fulfill their destinies in Jesus!
Here is a picture of my son Matt, who purchased this blog for me, and my oldest daughter Johanna.
